British company pledges free asbestos awareness training

October 13th, 2011

A British company has pledged to provide free training to educate employers about the dangers of occupational asbestos exposure. Expedient Training Services has teamed up with the Health and Safety Executive to teach companies how to reduce their employees’ risk of being exposed to asbestos in the workplace.

The company has offered 120 hours of free classroom-based training to senior management and tradesmen from 30 different companies so far. The program is part of a national campaign aimed at increasing asbestos awareness in Britain.

Asbestos causes mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer affecting the heart, lungs or abdomen. The Health and Safety Executive has pledged to provide 4,000 hours of asbestos training in honor of the 4,000 lives mesothelioma and other diseases caused by asbestos exposure claim annually.
