National Mesothelioma Awareness Day will be help on September 26th, 2014. Originally organized in 2004, National Mesothelioma Awareness Day has been the driving force for increased public awareness of mesothelioma cancer and the risks of asbestos exposure.
Mesothelioma Awareness Day will be celebrated in several towns throughout America, featuring community-organized events, runs, conferences and festivals. As many as 4,000 people in America every year are affected by mesothelioma, a deadly disease that can take decades to develop.
Mesothelioma cancer is a direct result of exposure to asbestos, a carcinogenic building material used in construction and insulation most prevalently from the 1940s through the 1970s. Tens of thousands of patients have filed mesothelioma lawsuits against former employers alleging the companies knowingly exposed them to asbestos while on the job.
