Mesothelioma survivor to release book to raise research funds

March 27th, 2013

Longtime mesothelioma survivor Jan Egerton has written a novel to raise money for mesothelioma research. Portions of the proceeds from the 402-page novel called The Dreamweaver’s Choice will go to the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund.

Egerton has survived pleural mesothelioma for more than 8 years after receiving a mesothelioma diagnosis in 2004, but continues treatments to prevent new cancer. Most mesothelioma patients live between 1 to 5 years after being diagnosed with stage 1 mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma cancer is a deadly disease that can attack the abdominal cavity or lungs. The disease is a direct result of asbestos exposure, which occurs most prominently in environments where the carcinogenic material asbestos was used, including industrial areas and in buildings constructed between 1940 and 1970.
